The Big Race

Well I did it!! One of my life goals I can mark off my list.. I ran a half marathon today and it was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.. The weather couldn't have been better, not too hot and not too cold. My friend Carrol ran the race with me and it was nice to have a partner for some of the race at least. I have never ran for 2 straight hours before and let me tell you it puts a toll on your body! I am praying I can walk in the morning and make it to Sunday school! Oh also it was armed forces day and they had a competition by the track which we had to run by not once but twice. There had to be at least 200 Air Force guys watching you run by clapping and probably thinking we were crazy for running that far. But let me tell you that was very uncomfortable when you have a ton of people on both sides of the street just watching you. :) I guess that's what I get for running on an AF base.
Well it was hard but I am glad I did it but I think I will stick to running 5 and 10k for a while. I am also thinking about maybe doing a biathlon next month. That's just running and then you bike. I also would love to get a triathlon under my belt but I am not a strong swimmer. We will see..
Oh and yes I got third out of the girls.. On base they award the top 3 male and females. It might look impressive but really not too many girls showed up. :) Cole has another award he can add to his trophies..

My Little Slugger

Cole has turned out to be quite the baseball player this season! It is so much fun to go to the games and know he is going to make plays. Now as most of you know I have never been big on baseball and I am starting to pick up on the lingo. I am still keeping my fingers crossed for basketball, I'm not giving up just yet! He plays second base and doesn't let much get past him. He's a good hitter as well. He almost always gets a hit when he's up to bat. He just needs to gain some speed. :) And I have learned it's all about speed in this sport.. we still have a few years to work on that!!

He is all decked out waiting to bat! Oh and by the way he is rarely this calm in the dugout..

Every sport Cole plays he has to and does get #25.. Clint's HS basketball number was 25 and he still uses it when he plays sports! I think that's cute..

Now this is there favorite part! They don't watch the game and really could care less! They run around with other kids, dig in the dirt or try and play catch. They are always covered in dirt by time we leave.

Happy Mother's Day!

Well here is my first attempt at blogging! I hope this works and I keep it updated!!
So I had a great Mother's Day weekend! On Saturday I started it off with an early run then came home to some homemade waffles. Clint has got those down to perfection. He adds cinnamon and sugar and they are to die for! Then we were off to Clint's softball game, which he lost but the kids had fun looking for golf balls by the driving range on base. They also found a snake in the tree, Cole said it was a Cobra. He said it was green, I then assured him it was a garden snake but Cole knows best! :) Then we came home and had a family movie night. Sunday Clint had to work so me and the kids went to church then had lunch with him at the fire dept. He had roses and cards waiting for me.. very sweet! Then the best part was when we got home the boys played together and me and Kylee took a nap with Lifetime watching me! It was a great much needed lazy day.
